Tłuszcz railway station in service
We are changing railway stations in Poland! This year we put three PKP railway stations into use. The railway investment programme implemented by the PKP is of great importance for travellers. Many of these buildings are real monuments, representing valuable historical heritage.
The PKP railway station in the Tłuszcz municipality is one of the facilities we have just made available to passengers. It replaced an old building that was unsuitable for the 21st century. It is a PKP S.A. investment worth just over PLN 12 million. The station uses green energy, photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof of the station, but that is not all. The facility has a rainwater recovery system, which after treatment is used as so-called grey water for flushing toilets or for watering green areas.
The interior of the station is finished simply and functionally. The entire passenger service area is illuminated by daylight entering through large-format display windows. The interior of the lobby-waiting area is equipped with benches, posts for charging mobile devices, an AED defibrillator, display cases with timetables, as well as electronic boards for train arrivals and departures. In addition to the ticket offices, it also features a special play area for the youngest with toys and games, and a special room for a carer with a child. The new building, like every Innovative System Station, is free of architectural barriers and has many facilities for people with disabilities.
The surroundings of the station itself have also changed. We have rebuilt the traffic and road system and built a new car park for 32 cars with four disabled spaces and three kiss&ride spaces. A new glass-roofed and covered bicycle shelter for 28 bicycles was also built near the building, along with a repair station for single-track bicycles.
